Combined Au.D. & Ph.D.

Combined Au.D. and Ph.D. in Audiology Track

KU offers the option of enrolling in a combined Au.D.-Ph.D. in audiology track. This option is available to students when they enter the program, and also if they decide to transfer after enrolling into either the Au.D. or Ph.D. program. The dual track model integrates components of the Au.D. and Ph.D. programs to facilitate completion of both degrees in a 6 year period for full-time students. Students usually complete the requirements for the Au.D. first (which include most of the required courses for the Ph.D. degree as well), then take additional research-related course work before completing the dissertation. An additional 30 hours of graduate credit is required beyond the minimum number of hours needed for the Au.D. degree alone. These additional hours are in research/correlative area courses to complete the curricular and dissertation hour requirements for the Ph.D. The program requires a minimum of 120 graduate hours for completion of the combined track, although most students earn closer to 130 hours by the time they graduate.

Students interested in applying to the combined Au.D.-Ph.D. track must meet the admission requirements for both the Au.D. and the Ph.D. in audiology degree programs.
