REL 311: Religion of Ancient Isreal (3 ) H/W
An introduction to the religion of ancient Israel through examination of biblical texts and archaeological evidence. Emphasis is placed on understanding the texts of the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) in their historical and cultural contexts, including the relationship of their religious views to other religious perspectives current in ancient Israel and the Near East. Attention is given to the processes by which the biblical texts developed and came to be viewed as scripture. LEC
